How are session delivered?
Sessions can be delivered:
- Individually face to face
- Couples face to face
- Families face to face
- Telehealth via telephone
- Telehealth via video call
What can you expect from your first appointment?
During your first session relevant information about you, your strengths and concerns will be explored. You will be asked to complete a short questionnaire. This questionnaire will provide valuable information about how you have been feeling over the past couple of weeks. We will discuss your goals for therapy. Don’t worry if you aren’t sure what your goals are. We can work on your goals during the session. We will look at what strategies or medications have or have not worked for you in the past. All of this information guides the direction of your therapy.
What type of therapy will be used?
Only evidenced based therapies are used. There is no one therapy that suits everybody. This is why we will work collaboratively to identify what therapies are the best fit for you.
What if I don’t want to talk about something painful?
That’s okay, you are in control of your therapy. You set the pace that you are comfortable with.
Is what I talk about confidential?
Your privacy is protected in accordance with NSW privacy laws. You will be provided with a detailed information sheet about confidentiality at the beginning of your first appointment. We will also discuss this information before we get started. Click here for more information.
Can a psychologist fix my problems?
Unfortunately psychologists don’t have a magic wand. However, it is their role to support, guide and help you to learn new strategies to enhance your life. The effort you invest into your therapy greatly predicts your outcomes.
